Prints are graphic artwork that have been understood by artists to be realized as original artwork, rather than copies of works in other media. The mold is produced by drawing or carving images to a hard surface (known as a matrix) such as wooden blocks, metal plates, or stones.

This surface is then closed and the image is transferred to paper or other materials with the application of pressure, thus creating an impression, or print. Printed images whose results are the exact opposite of the image in the plate.

Unlike paintings or pictures, molds are usually in several shows, each of which has been made from the same ink plate. Artists begin to sign and count every impression around the turn of the 20th century to ensure that only the impression they want to do will circulate.

The identical impression set (mold) made from an individual matrix made by artists, either working alone or simultaneously with the main printer is called an edition. Plates will not be used in running the next graphic art without the explicit authorization of the artist. Therefore, the edition of printing process is as important as the authenticity of prints as well as the act of writing images on a plate.

Moreover, as we have seen above, this term is one of a collection of dictionaries, acronyms, terms, jargon, or terminology in the field of arts that begins with an alphabet or prefix P, as well as terms associated with P.
