Understanding Perspective
So, what is actually meant by Perspective?
The term perspective refers to the representation of objects in the three -dimensional space (eg to represent the visible world) on the surface of the two -dimensional images.
Explanation of Perspective
Basic perspective, or linear rests on the fact that even though the parallel lines have never met, they seem to do it because they are getting further away from the viewers to the horizon, where they disappear. The side of the road, or newer, the railroad track, is a clear example. In painting all parallel lines, such as roof lines and building base lines, drawn to meet on the horizon if extended. This creates a distance illusion, and the point where the line meets is called the disappearing point. Things look smaller farther and farther, and the perspective allows the painter accurately and consistently to calculate the size of things that must be associated with the distance that should be from the point of view.
Linear perspective was discovered in Italy in the early fifteenth century and was first developed by Paolo Uccello painter. The initial perspective system uses a single remaining point of view with a single remover point. Then, some disappear points were introduced which allowed a much more naturalistic representation of a scene made, because it is closer to the way we really see, that is, of the two eyes that are in a constant movement.
The atmospheric perspective, or air, creates a sense of distance in the painting by utilizing the fact that the atmosphere looks blue in the distance.
