Understanding Metaphysical Art
So, what is actually meant by Metaphysical Art?
Metaphysical art (translation of the Italian Metafisica Pittura) is an Italian art movement in the early twentieth century which is marked by a scene like a dream from a frightening arcaded box with an unexpected aligning of objects.
Explanation of Metaphysical Art
Metaphysical art is a translation of Pittura Metafisica Italia, a movement made by Giorgio de Chirico and former futuris, Carlo Carra, in the North Italian city of Ferrara. Using a realist style, they paint special boxes from such Italian cities but their boxes are empty unnaturally, and in it objects and statues are put together in strange alignment. The artists thus create a visionary world of mind, outside of physical reality – therefore the name.
Actually this movement only lasted for six months or more in 1917 that De Chirico and Carra worked together, De Chirico changed his style the following year. But this term is generally applied to all the works of De Chirico from around 1911 when he first developed what was known as Pittura Metafisica. The uncertainty of the poet in 1913 is a classic example of that style.
Pittura Metafisica is also very influential, the most important thing about the development of paintings such as dreams, or one, type of surrealist, especially Max Ernst.
Moreover, as we have seen above, this term is one of a collection of dictionaries, acronyms, terms, jargon, or terminology in the field of arts that begins with an alphabet or prefix M, as well as terms associated with M.
