Internet art is an art created and for the internet, also known as net art. This includes various computer-based arts sub-genre including browser art and software art.
Explanation of Internet Art
This term is used to describe the process of making art using computers in several forms or others, whether to download the image which is then exhibited online, or to build a program that makes art.
Clean art emerged in the 1990s when artists found that the internet was a useful tool for promoting their art without obstacles by political, social or cultural obstacles. For this reason, it has been healing as a subversive geographical and cultural boundary, deftly targeting nepotism, materialism, and aesthetic suitability. Sites like MySpace and YouTube have become forums for art, allowing artists to show off their work without the endorsement of institutions.
Browser art
Sub-genre of internet art, browser art is a rebel art that is made as part of the URL that uses a computer as a raw material, changing the code, the structure of the website and the link between the server to visual material
Some browser art works automatically connect to the internet and then continue to pedal web pages by reading the ‘code’ of the computer in the wrong way. Duo Joan Hermskerk and Dirk Paesmans, known as Jodi, have compiled a program that the artist of Clean Art Tilman Baumgärtel described as changing a PC ‘into an unexpected and frightening machine that seems to have his own life’.
Other artists, such as the Duo based in the UK Tom Corby and Gavin Baily, reduce the rich web pages of images into striking white text. While American artist Maciej Wisniewski has developed a browser that changes interactive experiences exploring the net into passive activities, staring at pictures and floating text.
Software art
In the 1960s, software programs were digital tools with artists who could make art on computers. Since then, these programs have become very sophisticated so that they can now be considered as a work of art rather than just a facilitator.
Often the parody of software art or reconfigure existing computer programs. Web stalker, made by collective art I/O/D is the radical rearrangement of the internet browser and the signature of Adrian Shaw which is parodied by the Adobe Photoshop computer program. The emergence of software art has caused several new international media festivals, namely Files (Electronic Language International Festival) held at São Paulo in Brazil and Transmediales in Berlin. The emergence of software art has triggered questions about the data of art and culture and how this affects the world of conceptual arts.
Telematics art
The term telematic art was created by British artists and theorist Roy Ascott in the early 1990s to describe interactive art that uses the internet and other digital communication facilities, such as email and mobile phones. (The term ‘telematic’ was first used by Alain Minc and Simon Nora in the late 1970s to describe the way the computer sent information).
Most of the writings around telematic art focus on the human aspects of the media, the desire to communicate with others even in the virtual world, and how this is the center of media creation.
