Understanding C-Print
So, what is actually meant by C-Print?
Print-C, also known as Type-C print or chromogenic print, is a photo printing made of negative colors or slides.
Explanation of C-Print
Negative colors or slides are exposed to chromogenic photo paper (wet process paper) which contains three layers of emulsion, each of which is sensitive to different primary colors. After the image is exposed, it is submerged in chemical immersion, where each layer reacts to chemicals to make images full of color. Because chemicals are very complex, the image continues to react even after the process is complete. Chemicals are also very sensitive to water, light, and heat, making it difficult to protect C-printing from damage.
‘C-Type’ was originally a trademark used by the Kodak photography company for the paper they used to make prints from negative colors, but now applied standards for all colored photo prints.
