Explanation of Bauhaus
The teaching method of Bauhaus replaces the relationship of traditional students with the ideas of the artist community who work together. The aim is to bring art back to contact with daily life, and architecture, performing arts, designs and applied arts because it is given as much weight as art. The name is a combination of German words to build (smell) and house (thirst) and may be intended to arouse the idea of guilds or brotherhood that works to build new communities. Teachers include Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, László Moholy-Nagy and Josef Albers.
Bauhaus moved from Weimar to Dessau in 1925-6 where Gropius created a new building for schools. In 1932 moved to Berlin where it was closed in 1933 by Nazi.
