Like Etsa, Aquatint is an intaglio printing technique, but is used to create a tone effect rather than a line. Intaglio refers to printing techniques and graphic arts where the picture is insisted to the surface, and the lines that are insisted or concave areas holding ink.

Fine particles of acid -resistant ingredients, such as powder rosine, attached to print plates by heating. The plate is then immersed in a tub, like Etsa.
