Understanding Animation
So, what is actually meant by Animation?
Animation is a fast display of static image sequence in such a way as to create an illusion of movement.
Explanation of Animation
The history of animation originated from the early Chinese shadow lanterns and the eighteenth century optical toys, but not until the beginning of the twentieth century illustrators such as émile cohl began to draw cartoon strips into celluloids. The most famous animator is Walt Disney, famous for its cartoon features such as Fantasia and The Jungle Book, and which Salvador Dalí believes as heir to surrealism.
Computer animation began in the 1960s and was the successor to digital animation. Using software programs such as Adobe Flash, animators build sequences on computers to be used as special effects in films, called images produced by computers (CGI), or as animated sequences in their own rights. Computer animation has a different advantage for artists: cheap to make, fast, and artists can control every aspect of the process unlike the strange film that cannot be seen until it is developed. Sites like Youtube and MySpace have become a forum for computer animation, passing traditional galleries and museums as space for artistic companies.
